Welcome to the Botzong Family website.

Pictured to the left what is thought to be the formal Family Crest.

Genealogy research was commissioned by my aunt Maxine Botzong and a family search was done in Germany by Heinrich Herzog. He traces the family back to the French-Wallon community near present-day Belgium. From his report:

The oldest name bearer is Matthieu Bodecon1. who was a member of the French-Wallan community in Schönau in Odenwald. In the year of 1562, Prince Friedrich III had resettled the religious refugees from the French speaking part of the Hapsburg Holland in the abandoned Cistercian Monastery of Schönau near Heidelberg. The home of those Calvinist or reformed Wallons was the region and the city of Liepe, the county of Franchimont, Verviers, the region and the city of Limburg, also principality of Malmady. These regions belong to the contemporary Kingdom of Belgium.
